The Institute for International Relations (IRI) was created on November 28, 1989, by the Higher Council of the National University of La Plata, and started to work within the sphere of the Faculty of Juridical and Social Sciences on September 28, 1990, on the initiative of its current Director, Professor Norberto Consani.
The goals of the institute are:
Teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Extension activities, as a means of establishing links with national and international institutions with similar goals.
Research, with the purpose of contributing new developments to the knowledge of the international community.
